Hungary - Soccer???

[Last year with some friends, we went to Czech Republic and Hungary, one week holidays with guys only, to drink, party and from time to time sightseeing. The second part of our trip led us to the main town of Hungary, Budapest, during the last soccer world cup. I must admit that i don't like soccer so much, but ok, once per 4 years, i can cope with it if i'm with a beer around friends .... euh .... with friends around beers]

[The owner of our apartment in Budapest (this guy is probably the biggest scrooge on earth, he almost asked us to pay for the usage of the parquet floor !!!) gave us (hard to believe after my previous sentence between bracket) 4 tickets for free beers in a bar lounge (probably owned by his brother). Free Beers, Homer Simpson could say "Woooo Ooooo". So we decided to go to this place to watch the match between France and Brazil.

In the bar, we notice immediatly that we are not wearing the correct colors. It's green and yellow everywhere and we are the only ones in Red and Blue. I forgot to take a picture at the beginning of the match, we were the three only guys shouting in the restaurant when we scored :D]

Some pictures of this evening :

[And Budapest ??? I'll come back later on this city (but i can already tell you that i prefer Praha), but because the Coco Bongo Club could be anywhere (that's definitely a dummy name for a Hungarian bar), i add below pictures of Szechenyl bath located in the middle of the Varosliget park, very nice place:]

Banana-Man's Head

[Following the previous post, and because i don't want to receive hundreds of e-mail asking where Banana-Man's head went, i can assure you that we found his head few hours later in a sport shop in Shinjuku as you can see on the picture below:]

Flash ? Superman ? Masked Cucumber ?
No, the only Banana-Man

[No no, his head was no stucked in the As..... of the giant robot :P]

Japan - Watachi Wa Genki

[One thing i really wanted to visit in Tokyo was the Ghibli Museum. The Ghibli studio is probably the most famous japanese animated studio which produced MY Neighbor Totoro, Princess Monoke, Chihiro and a lot of older ones (Yes, there are also responsible for Pompoko, an animated movie on Tanuki, a kind of racoon with huge love-balls !!!!)

Then, on a raining saturday morning, it's time for Mayiumi-san, Banana-Man and me to go to this Museum. Take care, you have to buy your ticket at least one month before, it's very popular and crowded]

Here is the Tanuki, at least the way japanese people represent it:

Don't be jealous guys

[Ok, after our train trip, we finally arrive in front of the museum. You don't believe me ?!! A proof, ok, as you can see on the picture above Mayumi, me and the cashier at the museum entrance. And you can notice that we have umbrellas, so it's raining ... i never lie :D]

Mmmm, seems you can't see correctly the cashier on this one, because he was very friendly, we took a picture of him, alone ....

Kanashiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii desu !!!

[From now, no more picture. Unfortunately, digital camera are forbidden in the Museum, and because i'm japanese, i follow the rules (... at least some). The architects (and the non ones) will appreciate the building itself. It a huge mansion full of corridors, stairs and hidden gate, a kind of maze for kids but where adults will also like to discover. But except this, the museum is quite empty, few cellulo, storyboard and so on ... only a theater if you want to see new Ghibli's short movies. There is one with the Neko Bus !!!! Unlickily, this day, it was not this one :'(. Kanashi desu !!! Another big disappointement was the giant Neko bus. There is a room with a 6 meter long neko bus, and kids can play in/on/with. But it's only for kids under 6 !!!!! I tried, after all i can't read japanese so i don't understand "Sumimasen, Wakalimasen". But the japanese lady explained me with gestures and a huge smile (remember they are smiling) that i was too old. Yay yay, i know, my brother already told me hundreds of time]

[Additional information on the official website, so if you have time in Tokyo and really want to visit it ...]

http://www.ghibli-museum.jp/welcome/

[Ah one last thing, which could figure in a X-file, Banana-Man's head disappeared when we were at the museum ...]

Japon - A night to remember

[Sad night, his plane was leaving next morning, and he would be far from her again. Already 2 O'clock, after finishing his bag, switching off the light, he was seating on the floor, looking at her. She was already in her bed, facing the wall.

Her back was uncovered, it was possible to see the curve of her hip. How long did he stay here looking at her ... didn't remember, probably several minutes. He was thinking how lucky he was to have met such amazing girl, to share so much with someone, really connected. When he finally decided to join her in the bed, he thought that she was sleeping. Did he wake her up ? Was she waiting him ? She is the only one who knows. At this time, she rolled over, looked at him and said " Marry Me". His hearbeat stopped, no more bloodstream ... what an incredible sentence, did he hear correctly ? Was it a dream ? No, Dreams don't smell anything and he was still able to smell her parfum, so it was real. He didn't react for several seconds, still analysing what he heard, but there was nothing to analyse, his mind and heart were already in line on an answer.

He moved slightly to be above her, looking at her in the dark, "Do you really want to marry me ?", and her answer restarted his heartbeat "Yes". Three letters, a very short word, but so meaningful for him. To share his life with her, to take care of her ... An important thing during the night, in a country far far away.]

[It's 'Incroyable' (sounds better than the british 'incredible'), after one month this blog is still alive !!! A new month, to celebrate this, a short message. This is a picture from a friend who visited Nara (Japan) last month. The city is very famous for Deers.]

The Air-filled Bambi

[Don't be scared, all deers in Nara are not wheeling deers and pink, but this one is my favorite one, i could be in love. Then the complete picture ...]

Coolllllllll !!!

[I have now a new Goal (with a capital G), to go to Nara to buy such air-filled deer and to pull over it everywhere i'm travelling .... one Deer, definitely not enough, a herd of deers. I'm sure that women will fall in love immediatly. Better than a dog, and cheaper, Air is free. Cool :D]

Your Kaeru,
Greg.

Japan - Japanese Smile ... Part 1, it's dancing

[One of the first thing you'll for sure notice in Japan, and especially when you are asking your way or in shops, is the japanese smile. Japanese people are smiling and it's a real pleasure to see smily people wherever you are watching. Maybe french people should learn how to smile, it's completely free (ah yes, need some energy to stretch your muscles ...) but you can be sure that the person in front of you will appreciate this.

[So you are probably wondering why i wrote that the smile is dancing ?? At the beginning of november 2006, i went to Odaïba, for a nice japanese dance exhibition. A lot of japanese dancers and some foreigners too (they were smiling too !!!! so it's possible, try ;D) moving on traditional japanese music, happy to be together, happy to share this with people, with huge grin on their face. And yes, you can transmit your smile, smiles everywhere ...]

[When you are smiling, the whole world smiles with you]

And some other pictures :

and the nice girl who spent her entire afternoon trying to be on my pictures :D

The smiling Kaeru who is now keeping a huge grin on his face,

World - My Kingdom for a .... Hammock

[Last week, in Tokyo, we were walking in Harajuku area, when we noticed a nice shop selling hammocks (ICI Sport Harajuku if you are interested). Alala, hammocks, it's the proof that there is a God, or a least a superior mind somewhere !!! It's the coolest thing on earth, you just need two points to hang it, and yes, the heaven's gate is now in front of you.]

[Look at these pictures, these smily faces, peaceful, you can notice how happy they are. Yes, the hammock is the easiest way to happiness, cheaper than Diamond et better than Cat's grass. Fit perfectly in your bag, and you just need 2 carabiners and 2 trees, then you can sleep everywhere, rocked slowly ... :D]

[Problem, hammock it's only for one person !!! So you have to fight for your hammock, look all these angry people, trying to find a way to recover it ...]

[How to solve this ?? In my family, we developed a secret technic, allowing to obtain the Precious very easily. For sure you are jealous, so i'll give you an hint ... laziness. You can see on the two pictures below, that i'm not lying - my brother and I, in the Precious !!! Weeeeeeeee !!!!]

[And yes, people are jealous, i think David is angry now ...]

Japan - Good things come to those who wait

[Some people are asking me pictures i took in Japan during my 6 months trip. I took so many pictures and so nice things to remember that i need some time to sort my brain. So to start only three pictures, you'll have to wait. Don't try to understand the second one ... :D]

Your Kaeru.

[Mountain, done. So let's start another story. Today, i'd like to introduce an incredible discovery. We were walking in the Summer Palace, in Beijing (yay, on sunday, i like to visit Palace, some prefer gardens or parks, for me it's Palace ... :P) ... by the way, some pictures of this very nice place (one of my favorite one in Beijing), but i will write a complete report later:]

[So, we are walking in the Summer Palace, when suddenly .... Mao Tse Toung and the Che playing Bridge !!! Ok, ok, bad joke. When suddendly .... the tiniest rabbit in the world (maybe not, but it's my story, so if i decide that's the tiniest bunny in the world, then it is !!!]

[Ok, it's only a picture and you could tell me 'Greg, there is no scale ... it's maybe a huge one, and you had a big zoom'. What ???!!! You don't believe me ? Ok, i will prove this. Zoom out ... Zoom out ... it's a very simple digital camera, where is the zoom out ..... ah here ....bzzzzz. On the left, it's a chinese guy, not a kid !!!! Ah ah ah, we, froggies, we have a great sense of humor ... i hope ....]

[A very short story, but intense ... See you soon for new adventure around the world]

Your Kaeru,

[Let start by introducing Michel, my climbing partner. Last year we had the crazy project to climb Les Drus which is one of the most famous mountains in the Alpes close to the Mont-Blanc. At the end of May, Chamonix to check what at this time we were planning to climb. Adventure, here we are ...]

It's the guilty guy:

[When we left this morning, the idea was just to walk on the "Ice Sea" to try our crampons and to walk 1 or 2 hours to the famous refuge of Charpoua, the oldest one in the Mont-Blanc area. 1 or 2 hours ... yes, and Santa Claus exists .... So we decided with a big grin on our faces to start this "tiny trek", some ladders to access to the "sea". Then let's cross it to walk in direction of this famous refuge that almost all famous mountain climbers know]

The refuge is on the right .... ah ah ah, what a funny french guy i am.

[Around noon, we decide to take a lunch break. Because it should be only a short walk, we only foresaw few foods: a bread, a cheese and a sausage. During lunch break, Michel tells me something like "it could be a good idea to keep some food for the next break". Hum hum, i didn't take care ... there was a clue in this sentence]

The beginning of the Ice Sea

So the refuge is "built" on this huge rock. Built is maybe too strong,
it's only made of Wood. On the right picture, there is a small black spot ...
it's Michel. Hang on Michel i'm coming !!!!

[So we're walking, first on very cute mountain path, then the snow, but Michel is already far behind. He is smoking too much, stop smoking Michel it's bad for your spermatozoons (just discovered the translation ... spermatozoon ... sounds cool). So i walk .... left ... right .... left ..... left .... ouch ! No, i'm not drunk. I'm getting tired, it's 4 o'clock, all the food in my stomach already disappeared .... and Michel is not asking me to stop ... so i'm walking. I can't do both things at the same time, walking and thinking, and because my stomach is empty i definitely can't process any information .... so just walking]

[At 5pm, victory, the refuge is in front of me, and God, i'm hungry, i could eat a platypus, but maybe hard to find at 2841m. Two other guys we crossed on our way to the refuge (they were faster ... always waiting for Michel ^_^) are asking me where is my partner. Should be throwing up his lungs somewhere. So after 15 minutes, i decide to go back to find him without my huge bag. Yes, at this time, a small voice in my brain told me something like 'Eh froggy, could be a good idea to leave your bag in the refuge, you'll be lighter .... Message from the Stomach .... WHERE IS THE FUCKING FOOOOODDDDDDD ????']

[6 o'clock, we are together in the refuge. And already a lot of people sleeping, it seems that they are all planning to climb the 'Y', a very famous ice route. But you have to start this one around midnight with the Yeti on your back, crazy climbers. Let's start the diner .... what the fuck is this ?? a small piece of cheese, half sausage and some bread, that's all ?? Michel, i don't know if you clearly understand the situation, if i don't feed my stomach, it would probably try to kill me during the night. Huge voice in my stomach : "Feed me .... Feed me .... Feed me .... Feed me". Yes my stomach has a very limited vocabulary. What can we do now ??? I'm tired, hungry, .... sleep is maybe not a too bad idea. But 19 people in 18 square meters and only 12 beds .... Yay, a kitchen table, we could sleep on it]

[That's true, we were guilty. But be nice Your Honor, we were hungry, we were two poor french guys lost in the middle of nowhere with a box of cookies just in front of us on the kitchen table. It was impossible for us to resist. Look how Michel seemed happy with these cookies ... please don't send us to jail, we have families ... at least Michel, but i have a lovely cat, a Ginger one .... and he could bite your ass your Honor ... euh, sorry for this last sentence]

[the next morning, i finally understood why we did this trek. What we saw was definitely nicer than all diners we could have done .... my stomach is not really in line with my brain ... who cares, magic of the mountain]

[It's now time for us to go back to our starting point. It's 7 in the morning, i'm starving and we have to walk ... 4 hours. I remember that i saw chocolate in a shop close to our starting point, good motivation. It's the only reason why i'm still walking .... chocolate. In fact my brain switched off, and now my stomach is speaking to my legs : " Left, Right, Left, Right .... faster lazy legs ... i need food". Ah ah, i hope you didn't forget the ladders, and this time the fall is not allowed. Holy fuck, so hard to pull on my arms .....]. Look, i really look like a tired and hungry guy:

Yes ... I know ... I didn't shave ....

[But like all good stories, there was a happy ending. One hour later, we were back in Chamonix, in a nice restaurant eating Tartiflette. The last word is from my stomach : "VICTORYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY !!!]

Michel - "ah ....."

and to conclude:

Greg -"Why didn't you ask me to stop ?"
Michel -"I was expecting that you asked me to stop"
Greg -"But i was leading ...."
Michel -"ah ...."

A bientôt pour de nouvelles aventures,
Your Kaeru.
