Fontainebleau - The Roof of the Dog

[Fontainebleau is the biggest forest close to Paris but it's also very famous for Bouldering. Considered as the best bouldering area in the world by the number of bouler problems, you can find there thousands of sandstone boulders. Heaven for boulderers (??!! i have no idea if it's an english word). The forest is splitt in several areas and today we'll focus on 'The Ass of the Dog', and on the 'Roof of the Dog' which is the hardest boulder of this area. Highest grade, something like 6c+ which has been decreased to 6c, so a huge challenge for my brother and I, who are definitelly not boulder experts]

The roof 'itself'

The tiny hole for two fingers

[The challenge of this boulder is first on the roof itself. There is one and only one tiny hole where you can put two fingers, then you have to 'jump' on a small pocket for your left hand. Hardest part done ... not really, then you have to pull yourself and leave the roof, hard hard ....]

Me and my heel hook. Important to be correcly
balanced before trying to jump on the small pocket

[After several tries, we have to renounce. It's not over, we'll come back with a lot of energy and motivation, probably next week]

I'll be back

And don't forget your crashpad, could be usefull on this one,

Hungary - Soccer???

[Last year with some friends, we went to Czech Republic and Hungary, one week holidays with guys only, to drink, party and from time to time sightseeing. The second part of our trip led us to the main town of Hungary, Budapest, during the last soccer world cup. I must admit that i don't like soccer so much, but ok, once per 4 years, i can cope with it if i'm with a beer around friends .... euh .... with friends around beers]

[The owner of our apartment in Budapest (this guy is probably the biggest scrooge on earth, he almost asked us to pay for the usage of the parquet floor !!!) gave us (hard to believe after my previous sentence between bracket) 4 tickets for free beers in a bar lounge (probably owned by his brother). Free Beers, Homer Simpson could say "Woooo Ooooo". So we decided to go to this place to watch the match between France and Brazil.

In the bar, we notice immediatly that we are not wearing the correct colors. It's green and yellow everywhere and we are the only ones in Red and Blue. I forgot to take a picture at the beginning of the match, we were the three only guys shouting in the restaurant when we scored :D]

Some pictures of this evening :

[And Budapest ??? I'll come back later on this city (but i can already tell you that i prefer Praha), but because the Coco Bongo Club could be anywhere (that's definitely a dummy name for a Hungarian bar), i add below pictures of Szechenyl bath located in the middle of the Varosliget park, very nice place:]

Banana-Man's Head

[Following the previous post, and because i don't want to receive hundreds of e-mail asking where Banana-Man's head went, i can assure you that we found his head few hours later in a sport shop in Shinjuku as you can see on the picture below:]

Flash ? Superman ? Masked Cucumber ?
No, the only Banana-Man

[No no, his head was no stucked in the As..... of the giant robot :P]

Japan - Watachi Wa Genki

[One thing i really wanted to visit in Tokyo was the Ghibli Museum. The Ghibli studio is probably the most famous japanese animated studio which produced MY Neighbor Totoro, Princess Monoke, Chihiro and a lot of older ones (Yes, there are also responsible for Pompoko, an animated movie on Tanuki, a kind of racoon with huge love-balls !!!!)

Then, on a raining saturday morning, it's time for Mayiumi-san, Banana-Man and me to go to this Museum. Take care, you have to buy your ticket at least one month before, it's very popular and crowded]

Here is the Tanuki, at least the way japanese people represent it:

Don't be jealous guys

[Ok, after our train trip, we finally arrive in front of the museum. You don't believe me ?!! A proof, ok, as you can see on the picture above Mayumi, me and the cashier at the museum entrance. And you can notice that we have umbrellas, so it's raining ... i never lie :D]

Mmmm, seems you can't see correctly the cashier on this one, because he was very friendly, we took a picture of him, alone ....

Kanashiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii desu !!!

[From now, no more picture. Unfortunately, digital camera are forbidden in the Museum, and because i'm japanese, i follow the rules (... at least some). The architects (and the non ones) will appreciate the building itself. It a huge mansion full of corridors, stairs and hidden gate, a kind of maze for kids but where adults will also like to discover. But except this, the museum is quite empty, few cellulo, storyboard and so on ... only a theater if you want to see new Ghibli's short movies. There is one with the Neko Bus !!!! Unlickily, this day, it was not this one :'(. Kanashi desu !!! Another big disappointement was the giant Neko bus. There is a room with a 6 meter long neko bus, and kids can play in/on/with. But it's only for kids under 6 !!!!! I tried, after all i can't read japanese so i don't understand "Sumimasen, Wakalimasen". But the japanese lady explained me with gestures and a huge smile (remember they are smiling) that i was too old. Yay yay, i know, my brother already told me hundreds of time]

[Additional information on the official website, so if you have time in Tokyo and really want to visit it ...]

[Ah one last thing, which could figure in a X-file, Banana-Man's head disappeared when we were at the museum ...]

Japon - A night to remember

[Sad night, his plane was leaving next morning, and he would be far from her again. Already 2 O'clock, after finishing his bag, switching off the light, he was seating on the floor, looking at her. She was already in her bed, facing the wall.

Her back was uncovered, it was possible to see the curve of her hip. How long did he stay here looking at her ... didn't remember, probably several minutes. He was thinking how lucky he was to have met such amazing girl, to share so much with someone, really connected. When he finally decided to join her in the bed, he thought that she was sleeping. Did he wake her up ? Was she waiting him ? She is the only one who knows. At this time, she rolled over, looked at him and said " Marry Me". His hearbeat stopped, no more bloodstream ... what an incredible sentence, did he hear correctly ? Was it a dream ? No, Dreams don't smell anything and he was still able to smell her parfum, so it was real. He didn't react for several seconds, still analysing what he heard, but there was nothing to analyse, his mind and heart were already in line on an answer.

He moved slightly to be above her, looking at her in the dark, "Do you really want to marry me ?", and her answer restarted his heartbeat "Yes". Three letters, a very short word, but so meaningful for him. To share his life with her, to take care of her ... An important thing during the night, in a country far far away.]

[who thought that it's definititely romantic],

Japan - Deer "Hunter"

[It's 'Incroyable' (sounds better than the british 'incredible'), after one month this blog is still alive !!! A new month, to celebrate this, a short message. This is a picture from a friend who visited Nara (Japan) last month. The city is very famous for Deers.]

The Air-filled Bambi

[Don't be scared, all deers in Nara are not wheeling deers and pink, but this one is my favorite one, i could be in love. Then the complete picture ...]

Coolllllllll !!!

[I have now a new Goal (with a capital G), to go to Nara to buy such air-filled deer and to pull over it everywhere i'm travelling .... one Deer, definitely not enough, a herd of deers. I'm sure that women will fall in love immediatly. Better than a dog, and cheaper, Air is free. Cool :D]

Your Kaeru,
Greg.

Japan - Japanese Smile ... Part 1, it's dancing

[One of the first thing you'll for sure notice in Japan, and especially when you are asking your way or in shops, is the japanese smile. Japanese people are smiling and it's a real pleasure to see smily people wherever you are watching. Maybe french people should learn how to smile, it's completely free (ah yes, need some energy to stretch your muscles ...) but you can be sure that the person in front of you will appreciate this.

[So you are probably wondering why i wrote that the smile is dancing ?? At the beginning of november 2006, i went to Odaïba, for a nice japanese dance exhibition. A lot of japanese dancers and some foreigners too (they were smiling too !!!! so it's possible, try ;D) moving on traditional japanese music, happy to be together, happy to share this with people, with huge grin on their face. And yes, you can transmit your smile, smiles everywhere ...]

[When you are smiling, the whole world smiles with you]

And some other pictures :

and the nice girl who spent her entire afternoon trying to be on my pictures :D

The smiling Kaeru who is now keeping a huge grin on his face,
Greg.

World - My Kingdom for a .... Hammock

[Last week, in Tokyo, we were walking in Harajuku area, when we noticed a nice shop selling hammocks (ICI Sport Harajuku if you are interested). Alala, hammocks, it's the proof that there is a God, or a least a superior mind somewhere !!! It's the coolest thing on earth, you just need two points to hang it, and yes, the heaven's gate is now in front of you.]

[Look at these pictures, these smily faces, peaceful, you can notice how happy they are. Yes, the hammock is the easiest way to happiness, cheaper than Diamond et better than Cat's grass. Fit perfectly in your bag, and you just need 2 carabiners and 2 trees, then you can sleep everywhere, rocked slowly ... :D]

[Problem, hammock it's only for one person !!! So you have to fight for your hammock, look all these angry people, trying to find a way to recover it ...]

[How to solve this ?? In my family, we developed a secret technic, allowing to obtain the Precious very easily. For sure you are jealous, so i'll give you an hint ... laziness. You can see on the two pictures below, that i'm not lying - my brother and I, in the Precious !!! Weeeeeeeee !!!!]

[And yes, people are jealous, i think David is angry now ...]

Japan - Good things come to those who wait

[Some people are asking me pictures i took in Japan during my 6 months trip. I took so many pictures and so nice things to remember that i need some time to sort my brain. So to start only three pictures, you'll have to wait. Don't try to understand the second one ... :D]

Your Kaeru.

[Mountain, done. So let's start another story. Today, i'd like to introduce an incredible discovery. We were walking in the Summer Palace, in Beijing (yay, on sunday, i like to visit Palace, some prefer gardens or parks, for me it's Palace ... :P) ... by the way, some pictures of this very nice place (one of my favorite one in Beijing), but i will write a complete report later:]

[So, we are walking in the Summer Palace, when suddenly .... Mao Tse Toung and the Che playing Bridge !!! Ok, ok, bad joke. When suddendly .... the tiniest rabbit in the world (maybe not, but it's my story, so if i decide that's the tiniest bunny in the world, then it is !!!]

[Ok, it's only a picture and you could tell me 'Greg, there is no scale ... it's maybe a huge one, and you had a big zoom'. What ???!!! You don't believe me ? Ok, i will prove this. Zoom out ... Zoom out ... it's a very simple digital camera, where is the zoom out ..... ah here ....bzzzzz. On the left, it's a chinese guy, not a kid !!!! Ah ah ah, we, froggies, we have a great sense of humor ... i hope ....]

[A very short story, but intense ... See you soon for new adventure around the world]

Your Kaeru,
